Cork pharma consultancy Business Platforms creates 75 new jobs

Business Platforms will also extend space at its headquarters in Cork to facilitate the growing team.

Cork-based pharma consulting firm Business Platforms is creating 75 news jobs in a business expansion that will double its workforce by 2028.

The consulting firm specialises in manufacturing execution systems (MES), serialisation, supply chain operations and digital transformation for the pharmaceutical industry.

Founded in 2019 by Paul Browne, Phillip Doyle and Liam O’Riordan, Business Platforms supports more than half of the top 20 largest pharmaceutical firms worldwide, the company said.

According to the company, the expansion strategy includes key investments in its people and infrastructure.

The newly announced jobs will be based in consulting and engineering. In addition, the company said it will continue to “enhance” its graduate and associate MES engineer programme, which has already integrated nearly 20 graduates into client projects.

Business Platforms also plans to expand its office space at its headquarters in Cork to facilitate the growing team, it said.

In addition to the jobs, the firm has also appointed industry veteran Joe Lyons as general manager. Lyons has more than 20 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical sector and is a recognised expert in MES implementation and global standardisation.

“This announcement reflects the increasing demand for specialised consulting services in the pharmaceutical industry. We are proud to continue our commitment to excellence by growing our talented team, investing in cutting-edge learning and development initiatives and expanding our service offerings to meet the evolving needs of our clients,” said Lyons.

“By investing in talent and fostering strong industry partnerships, Business Platforms will continue to contribute to the region’s economic growth and provide long-term career opportunities for professionals in the consulting and engineering sectors.”

Taoiseach Micheál Martin, who was present for the announcement in Cork said, “Ireland’s pharmaceutical sector stands as a global leader, driving innovation, excellence and economic growth. This announcement from Business Platforms is a testament to the strength of this industry and the world-class expertise we cultivate here in Cork.

“By creating 75 highly skilled jobs and expanding its consulting services, Business Platforms is strengthening the digital transformation of pharmaceutical manufacturing and reinforcing Ireland’s position at the cutting edge of the industry.”
