Apple TV+’s newest theatrical release, a neo-noir thriller directed by Spike Lee and starring Denzel Washington, is set to drop on August 15.

When a young boy is kidnapped by mistake, a legendary music mogul has to decide if he’s the one who should pay the ransom. “Highest 2 Lowest” reimagines Akira Kurosawa’s “High and Low” through the lens of the modern music industry.

Denzel Washington stars as music mogul David King. The film also stars ASAP Rocky, Ice Spice, Jeffrey Wright, Ilfenesh Hadera, and Dean Winters.

The film is set for a theatrical release on August 15, with a subsequent release on Apple TV on September 5.

Directed by Spike Lee, “Highest 2 Lowest” marks the fifth collaboration between Lee and Washington, following “Inside Man,” “He Got Game,” “Malcolm X,” and “Mo’ Better Blues.” According to People, it could be the pair’s last film together — assuming that Washington is serious about retiring.

As of right now, this appears to be one of Apple’s last theatrical releases — at least for the time being. Apple recently released “F1: The Movie,” to theaters, which quickly became the tech giant’s highest-grossing theater release.
