EXL’s new HQ for international business, AI opens in Dublin

The US-headquartered company has also opened an AI Innovation Lab set to employ 60 skilled professionals.

Data analytics company EXL has opened its new headquarters for international business in Dublin’s Docklands. The company has also established a new AI Innovation Lab, which is set to initially employ 60 highly skilled professionals.

Jobs at the new AI lab are part of EXL’s aim to hire 200 technology specialists in Dublin, a plan the company announced back in 2023 alongside revealing plans for the international business headquarters.

The AI lab is designed to expand EXL’s capabilities by developing new AI and data solutions, as well as create a collaborative environment to work with its clients that span banking, business, media, insurance, energy and retail to create industry-specific AI solutions.

The lab also aims to integrate clients’ enterprise-wide data using EXL’s platform offerings to deliver AI-led insights.

“This expansion not only reflects our confidence in Dublin as a leading hub for AI talent and innovation, but also our ambition to deliver AI-powered solutions to clients across the globe,” said Rohit Kapoor, the chair and CEO of EXL.

“We’re excited to grow our presence in Ireland while advancing the frontiers of AI.” The company is headquartered in New York and has a presence across 13 countries in six continents.

“By investing in local talent and fostering strong partnerships with Ireland’s world-class academic institutions, EXL is helping to position Dublin as a global centre of excellence for AI,” said Tánaiste Simon Harris, TD.

“Ireland is well‑placed to be a hub of innovation in this space and EXL’s plans to continue to collaborate with local research institutions will be an important contribution to developing the next generation of talent.”

The Tánaiste attended the official opening of the new headquarters yesterday (11 August) with the EXL chairperson, the Lord Mayor of Dublin councillor Ray McAdam and Prof Colin Scott, the deputy president and vice-president of academic affairs at University College of Dublin (UCD).

EXL’s AI Innovation Lab builds on its existing partnerships with higher education institutions in the country, the company said, including an ongoing initiative to experiment and innovate towards AI-driven future solutions with UCD and CeADAR, Ireland’s national centre for AI.

EXL sponsored a student hackathon at UCD in February where students were tasked with using AI to help foster human connection on the campus.

In addition, the company is working with Trinity College Dublin to equip leaders with AI-powered decision-making and innovation capabilities.

“EXL is working closely with Irish universities to drive the development of AI talent and promote real-world innovation in AI and digital transformation,” said Rowan McGrath, the senior vice-president of international business at EXL.

Mary Buckley, the executive director at IDA Ireland said, “Artificial intelligence is a key growth driver in IDA Ireland’s new strategy ‘Adapt Intelligently: A Strategy for Sustainable Growth and Innovation’.

“This milestone underscores EXL’s commitment to innovation and reflects Ireland’s position as a global hub for cutting-edge digital investment and talent.”
