Eye health is often overlooked until vision problems begin to interfere with daily life. However, many eye conditions (and even certain health issues) can develop silently long before symptoms appear.
I’ve personally experienced this in the early days of my career, and learnt how important comprehensive health screenings can be not just in correcting vision, but in identifying potential risks early.
That and more can be assessed for free at Metro Optical Group’s (MOG) 6-in-1 Vision Experiential Showcase and Little Optom experience.
It’s a week-long event happening at Sunway Velocity Mall’s Vanity Atrium, that began on January 13 and will conclude on January 18, 2026.

A hospital-grade vision experience
The showcase features MOG’s 6-in-1 Vision Experience, a hospital-grade eye health screening valued at RM350. Designed to go beyond standard eye tests, the screening uses advanced diagnostic tools to detect eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye, and other vision anomalies.
In addition to eye health, the screening can also identify early risk signs linked to broader health conditions, including high blood pressure, diabetes, and other systemic health concerns. This highlights how eye examinations can play a role in overall health monitoring.

Each screening is paired with a personalised consultation by certified optometrists, allowing you to better understand your eye health and explore appropriate vision solutions.
Addressing children’s vision through early intervention
Children’s eye health is a key focus of the event. With increasing screen time and academic demands, myopia has become more prevalent at younger ages. Early detection and management are essential in slowing its progression and maintaining healthier vision over time.

MOG offers myopia care solutions, including myopia control lenses, and recommends regular eye assessments that can begin as early as four years old. Early and consistent intervention helps support children’s visual development, which in turn supports learning, confidence, and everyday activities.
To make eye care more approachable for the younger ones, the event features Little Optom, an interactive programme where children can learn about eye health through guided role play with parents, peers, and certified optometrists.
Eye Care Solutions for All Ages

Beyond children’s vision, MOG positions itself as an eye care provider for all life stages, offering solutions ranging from digital eye protection and progressive lenses to dry eye treatments and senior eye care.
For those unable to attend the event, both the 6-in-1 Vision Experience and Children Vision Assessment are available year-round at MOG outlets.
As awareness around preventive health continues to grow, comprehensive eye screening serves as an important reminder that early detection, whether for vision or overall health, can make a lasting difference.
